Being a Buyer with us means playing a key role in strategic procurement decisions, optimizing cost, quality, and delivery to support our manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Director of Procurement and Logistics, you will actively contribute to the evaluation of raw material costs and the development of efficient sourcing strategies, collaborating closely with engineering, sales, and purchasing teams.
On a daily basis, you will:
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers to ensure competitive proposals
- Analyze total cost and prioritize quotations based on constraints and objectives
- Coordinate information across departments and oversee project launches through to first production
- Propose and implement alternative sourcing strategies
- Optimize the supplier base (evaluation, risk analysis, and performance tracking)
- Negotiate contracts, price adjustments, logistics and quality clauses, as well as safety stock levels
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships
- Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers
- Perform analyses, produce reports, and track performance indicators
- Maintain ERP system accuracy and ensure data integrity (key-user role)
- Participate in continuous improvement and automation initiatives
- Support the procurement team in various operational activities
Profile
You are the ideal candidate if you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or DEC in Supply Chain / Procurement (or equivalent experience)
- Between 5 to 8 years of relevant procurement experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Strong proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to communicate in French and English, both verbally and in writing, in order to meet the requirements of the position and interact with various stakeholders
- Knowledge of ISO standards
- Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
- Ability to manage priorities and deadlines effectively
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
- Autonomy, rigor, and sound judgment
- A proactive, solution-oriented approach
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
- Experience with electrical components (an asset)
